The black belt secret to having the best mindset for online training
Hello everyone! Our first month of online Zoom training is complete! Your Instructors from Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove & Mission would like to thank you — from the bottom of our hearts for your support, energy and passion for Taekwondo and our school. We wouldn’t be here without you.Moving into May we have some great ideas for improving our online training. We have more challenges, lessons and on-demand content for our students. So how do we approach online training as Martial Artists? It isn’t always going to be easy. There will be days we’re fired up, and days we are just not that into it. It is important to accept this fact.We turn now to the wisdom of John Wooden, legendary coach of the UCLA basketball team. These 3 quotes ring true now more than ever during these times:Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.We can’t train in the dojang right now? Great, we’ll train online in our homes. We can’t see our friends right now? Great, we’ll focus on spending more time with family.Make each day your masterpiece. Each day is yours to take, so will you take it? Will you give it your 100% at everything you do?Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.You can’t train in the dojang, so you won’t train at all??You can’t see your friends, so you won’t see them at all??You can’t play at the playground, so you won’t play at all??We can train on Zoom, online with our instructors. We can FaceTime, Zoom, call or message our friends. We can play in our yards, or in our homes. So the black belt secret for having a good mindset during training and during this crisis as a whole — is to make the best of the way things turn out, make each day your masterpiece and don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.We’ll see you on the ‘virtual mats’ next week for your training.
