indomitable spirit

Indomitable Spirit
This word is so important, it is one of our 5 tenets of Taekwondo. We have two examples to talk about with all our students from Chang’s Taekwondo in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove, & Mission!
Example #1:
Learning how to ride your bike
At first this can be quite daunting, the pedalling and balancing.. the fear of falling.. We may fall many times, we may wobble, we may have to stop, but we should never give up! Every time we pedal, every time we fall, we are one step closer to mastering this new skill! This will translate to other things later in life, if we only use our indomitable spirit to persevere!
Example #2:
Learning how to tie your shoes
Another daunting task! It takes patience and commitment to tame two pieces of string and tangle them up properly into a nice bow. More than learning to ride a bicycle, this involves more patience! It will be frustrating, confusing, irritating, and seem impossible — but we must not give up! Indomitable spirit means persevering, but more than that it means persevering in the face of hardship or obstacles.
These are examples from our childhood, but they exemplify the meaning behind indomitable spirit. If we take these principles and apply them to other situations as we get older.. we find that we can again prove our indomitable spirit time and time again.
This month, focus on having a positive attitude while learning new things or trying new tasks.
