We have our summer vacation for the next two weeks

Hello everyone! We have our summer vacation for the next two weeks, which means Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts students from South Surrey Martial Arts, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen and Aldergrove will return to classes on August 2nd. Until that time, we have some tips on how to stay sharp during our summer break! The key to becoming successful at anything is persistence; never give up! This holds true for Taekwondo, we can only improve through constant practice and training. So, what should you spend your summer days practicing?Changs Taekwondo TsawwassenPoomsae:Poomsae helps you learn focus and how to control your motions. It is also a core component of your test, and an international standard within the World Taekwondo Federation.Board Breaking:Board breaking allows you to hone you accuracy and your power with kicks we train during your Taekwondo class. It is another core component of your test.Flexibility:Flexibility is as important for improving your body's range of motion, as it is for your general health and wellbeing. Flexibility allows you to kick higher, recover faster after training, and helps avoid injuries that would only hinder your training. Now, how long should you practice each day? This depends on your mood, energy level, time of the day in which you would practice, etc. However we believe our students should train for at least 5 minutes a day stretching, and 5 minutes a day on techniques! Remember this is the bare minimum! Ideally you would practice for longer, but with school and other activities going on throughout your day, a good way to start is with 10 minutes.Make sure we don’t practice on our friends, and make sure we don’t injure ourselves, or anyone/anything in our training environment! The point of practicing Martial Arts is to protect ourselves and those around us.Enjoy your break, and make sure you come to our Make-Up Classes to catch up on the training you will have missed. Please see your Instructors for a Make-Up Class schedule.See you on August 2nd!South Surrey Martial Arts
