Hello everyone! The excitement is building this week as we prepare to have our Blackbelt Testers go in front of Grand Master Chang, Master Chang and all their Instructors from Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts locations in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen and Aldergrove! There is only one week left, so they are practicing very hard, and we are very proud of what they have achieved so far. Today we’ll coverHow to prepare for your Blackbelt Test, and beyond!Black belts standing. The Blackbelt Test… Students look forward to this moment from the first time they try on their Uniform, and tie their white belt for the first time. This moment they take all the meticulous practice and training and put it to good use. It’s not an easy test, students have to know all the kicking techniques. From the basic Front Kick to the more advanced Back Turning Kick. Students also have to know their Poomsae! Those older than 16 years old have to memorize and train all 8 poomsae! Wow!Not to mention the students have to demonstrate their rolling and sparring capabilities as well. All to be capped off with a board breaking challenge that will make their White belt test seem easy. We’re very excited to see all our students do well, however no matter how fun or difficult this test will be… it’s only a moment during your training. This is the moment your Colour Belt Training comes to an end. Now we begin your journey in the world of the blackbelts! You see, contrary to popular belief, training in Taekwondo doesn’t end with the achievement of Blackbelt; it only just begins! There are many classes to hone your advanced skills, such as the weapons class, rolling class, advanced kicking class, sparring class and even the olympic sparring training (for if you want to take your Sparring abilities to the next level!).Being a Blackbelt isn’t necessarily about being the best at kicking, or the fastest, or the strongest. It’s all to do with your character. Our Blackbelts have good respect, they cannot test without it! Our Blackbelts have good confidence, they have been developing their confidence for years! Our Blackbelts have a great attitude; no matter what happens they will be kind and courteous. Our Blackbelts have good self control; they know how to train properly without getting injured, and how to enjoy the class in a fun and safe environment. With all this kept in mind, we look forward to the conclusion of the first part of your Martial Arts Journey, and the beginning of your next step in the world of Blackbelts! Good Luck to all our Blackbelt Testers!
