Chang's Taekwondo Yellow Stripe Discipline Requirements
Hello everyone! We're getting perilously close to our semi annual blackbelt test now! It is both an exciting and nerve wracking time for our students. However, we'd like to take this time to review the discipline requirements for a belt on the other end of the belt spectrum:
Yellow Stripe Discipline Requirements
Yellow stripe students must know everything a white belt must do, and upgrade these things:
-
How to come to class early enough to stretch.
-
We want all our students to perform at their maximum potential every single class, therefore the more you stretch before your class the better.
-
-
How to bow properly in any position.
-
Make sure if you are sitting down and Master Chang or one of the instructors walks by that you stand up and bow! Sit bowing is not very respectful, and respect is number one in Martial Arts!
-
-
How to start the class (find their spot) & finish up
-
We want to spend as much time as possible training, and the faster we can set up the class the better it is for everyone!
-
-
How to bow to the flags
-
We show respect to the Korean flag because that is where Taekwondo was founded, and we show respect to the Canadian flag because this is our home. To show respect to the flag we simply place our hand over our chest.
-
-
How to meditate
-
To meditate properly sit on your knees, keep you back straight and place your hands (in fists) slightly above your knees. Remember to keep your chin up and breathe in through your nose, and out through your mouth.
-
Once we see all our Yellow stripe Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts students at both schools in South Surrey and Langley doing all these things properly, they will be eligible for a green stripe on their test day.
