Chang's Taekwondo How to show good respect on Remembrance Day
Hello everyone! Maybe you’ve run out of candy and maybe you haven’t, at any rate we have a new blog for you! This weeks blog is:How to show good respect on Remembrance DayFirst of all let’s review what Remembrance Day is, it is a day in which we remember soldiers who gave their lives defending their country. Remembrance Day was started after the end of the First World War at the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month. During most Remembrance Day ceremonies there is a 2 minute period of silence in respect for those who lost their lives. The poem “In Flander’s Fields” is also read:In Flanders fields the poppies blowBetween the crosses, row on row,That mark our place; and in the skyThe larks, still bravely singing, flyScarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days agoWe lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,Loved and were loved, and now we lieIn Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe:To you from failing hands we throwThe torch; be yours to hold it high.If ye break faith with us who dieWe shall not sleep, though poppies growIn Flanders fields. It is also customary to wear poppy’s on the left side of the chest (as close to the heart as you can) in honour of those who died.We hope all Chang’s Taekwondo students from both the South Surrey and Cloverdale locations show good respect on Remembrance day, as these fallen soldiers deserve our respect.“Lest we Forget” Click here for previous blog posts
