Word of the month: Discipline - Changs Taekwondo Martial Arts
Hello everyone! We have a new word of the month to share with everyone.
Discipline
Junior meaning: I work before I play!
Senior meaning: Training oneself to do what needs to get done, when it needs to get done.
Discipline is the ability to continue to work hard to achieve your goals from the beginning to the end.. So let’s talk about 3 things..
‘Willpower’
‘Wantpower’
‘Won’tpower’
Wantpower relates to what you WANT to accomplish.
I WANT an A+ in Math
I WANT to do the Splits
I WANT to get my blackbelt
Etc..
Willpower is regarding what you WILL do, what you WOULD do to achieve your goal
I WILL study my math drills for 1 hour a day
I WILL practice my splits for 20 minutes a day
I WILL train hard every class, never miss a class, be respectful, bring my Instructor snacks…
Etc…
Won’tpower is a new concept we may not have heard of before. It is the power to decide what I WON’T let happen to me
I WON’T play games or hang out with friends until my 1 hour of math drills is over
I WON’T goof around in class and I will do my best stretching in class
I WON’T miss any Taekwondo classes
Etc…
So with the 3 Discipline superpowers we can definitely accomplish our goals.. Remember:
“We do not rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.” - Archilochus
