September is just around the corner
Hello everyone! September is just around the corner, students from Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen and Aldergrove will be returning to school in just over a week! We have some ideas on how you can return to school like a confident Martial Artist.
1. Make sure you are punctual.
As a Martial Artist, it is important to be early/on time for school, team practices, appointments, Taekwondo, etc. Have you ever been late for something, and then feel embarrassed or get called out because of it? Let’s be on time! This will not only make you feel good, it will let other people look to you and depend on you! Plus you’ll never miss a thing!
2. Make sure you shower, brush your teeth, get a haircut, trim your finger/toe nails and wear clean clothes!
There are few things more universally bad than a smelly friend! We want everyone to be not only healthy, but feel good about themselves as well. Not only does it feel better, but you will find it is easier to make friends if they can talk to you without you smelling like a troll!
3. Do your homework and Reading on time!
Nothing is enjoyable if you don’t understand, or if you feel like you are behind or you missed something. If we want to be able to enjoy everyday of school from September to June, then we have to definitely do our homework right away. This will let us wake up without dread, and go to school without a weight on our shoulders. Not only will your grades improve, but you will smile more!
4. Make sure you PICK your friends wisely.
Ever heard of the saying: “You are what you eat?” The same principle applies to your friend group. You become who you hang out with. So if you are hanging out with people who stay up late, or don’t do their homework, or associate with negative things.. then odds are that you will try those things to fit in with that friend group. We will be much happier and life will be easier if we choose friends whose principles and morals fit with us. We are Martial Artists, so we are confident, polite, courteous, respectful and happy. Find friends who are the same and you will be all the better for it!
We hope, as your Instructors and a positive role model that our students have the best academic year ever for 2017-2018. If you are struggling with anything, please come talk to your Instructors. We’ve all been through it, and we are more than happy to share our wisdom with the next generation!
**If you should want some extra stars:
1. Show your Instructor your new School Gear.
2. Tell your Instructor how you plan to succeed this year in school!
