Preparing for school!
Hello everyone! August is almost over, and Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts students in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove, and Mission are preparing to return to school in September. We have some tips from your instructors to help you prepare for and enjoy the beginning of the school year; and beyond!Every good day begins with a good night!
- Make sure to get plenty of rest, the younger you are—the earlier you should sleep! Everyone needs at least 8 hours of sleep to function the following day, so make sure we sleep well.
Sleeping well could be difficult even if we jump into bed at the right time, so follow these guidelines:
- No electronic screens 1 hour before bed
- No heavy meal 1 hour before bed
- No intense exercise 1 hour before bed
- Reading before bed is a great way to wind down your brains!
Eat enough food!
- No food means no energy!
- Eat healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and home cooked meals!
Get into the routine
- Wake up at the same time everyday
- Make your bed everyday
- Leave for school at the same time everyday
- Start getting ready for bed at the same time everyday
- Lights out at the same time everyday
By getting into a routine, we remove the burden of having to think about what we have to do… and letting willpower fail us! Automate as much of your front and back end of your days as possible so you can use your willpower where it is needed most during your days. There’s so much you can do to optimize your return to school, and make this the best year ever! So listen to and respect your parents, read good books, and enjoy it!
