How to stay healthy and strong in the hot summer sun, with Chang’s Taekwondo!

Hello everyone! We hope you are all enjoying your summer! Master Chang, Instructor Josh and Instructor Shawn all just returned from Las Vegas, Nevada! There, they attended the 2013 MAIA (Martial Arts Industry Association) Supershow along with 2,000 other Martial Artists of varying kinds!Chang's Taekwondo Staying Safe in the SunWhile they were there the weather reached record highs approaching 120ºF (That’s around 47ºC!) It was so hot you might compare it to being in a sauna while you were outside! However while we were away everyone in White Rock experienced hot weather as well. Therefore we have decided to give you a few tips on how to stay cool in the hot summer sun.

The first tip is to drink lots of water!

Staying hydrated is very important. Did you know you have to drink around 10 glasses of water EVERYDAY? Well you do! If you miss drinking even a little bit of water and become even a LITTLE bit dehydrated, you can lose all your energy and become very tired.. We want to help you avoid this!

The second tip is to apply sunscreen every time you go out into the sunshine!

Sunburns are very bad for your health, and they are very painful as well! To avoid this make sure you use the correct SPF sunscreen for your outing (The higher the better!). If you happen to get a sunburn, apply generous amounts of aloe vera to the burn every time it dries out.

Other good tips:

• look for shade when you pick a picnic spot. A little break from the harmful rays of the sun will do you a world of good!• Wear a shirt while at the beach! This will block the most of the sun.• Make sure you wear sunglasses! Wearing sunglasses will protect your eyes, and help you avoid squinting. (Did you know you can get a headache from squinting too much? Yes!)We hope you have an awesome summer!
