Changs Taekwondo Stripe System

Hello everyone! We have quite a few new friend’s joining us this new year of 2016! So we would like to share with all our students new and experienced from Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen and Aldergrove some detailed information about:The Stripe SystemLet’s begin with the red stripe, for many students it’s your first stripe you ever receive! It is definitely a very important stripe. The red stripe signifies a good attitude, a loud Kihap, and being brave. It is also the easiest stripe to lose! So to make sure you receive and keep your Red Stripe make sure each and every class we are loud, have a good attitude and we are very brave!Changs TaekwondoNext is the white stripe! The white stripe is given when you show your Instructors your Blocks or Poomsae is memorized and smooth. We should clarify it doesn’t mean we’re perfect! It means we have learned it and can now work extra hard to make it stronger and even smoother for our Blackbelt Test.Board breaking is required to advance to the next belt. To receive your yellow stripe, you need to demonstrate to your Instructor that you have the power and precision to break a board with your specific kick. Make sure you practice hard! There are just 2 stripes left! The green stripe signifies Respect and Discipline. Each belt level has a specific set of things they have to do for the whole 3 months they are that belt to achieve their green stripe. For example, Yellow belts must kihap loud, and when they respond with “Yes Sir!” or “Yes Ma’am!” they have to use a loud voice. Each level has different requirements, so please consult with your Instructor to find out what they are. Finally the Black Stripe. The most important of all the stripes, you receive the black stripe for passing a pre-test! Once you have passed 2 pre-tests you are eligible in your third month to test for your new belt! So make sure you train hard to pass your test, and most of all don't miss your tests! Each stripe is very important all on its own, signifying important components of your training as a martial artist. However, when you achieve all the stripes, it paints a picture of all your hard work and you should be very proud of your accomplishment!**Objectives for receiving extra stars:1. Explain the red stripe to your instructor.2. Explain the white stripe to your instructor.3. Explain the yellow stripe to your instructor.4. Explain the green stripe to your instructor.5. Explain the black stripe to your instructor. If you can explain all the stripes you may receive 5 extra stars!!**
