Changs Taekwondo - Our new Word of the Month: Compassion

Hello Everyone! Hopefully all our students are easing back into their Taekwondo Martial Arts training nicely. We never want to overdo it after a break from training, so make sure we take it easy with all our techniques for the next little while. With the new month comes a new ‘Word of the Month.’ This month we’re going to learn about:

- Compassion -

When you feel hurt, I want to help make you feel better.

Changs Taekwondo Compassion

First of all we have to talk about how we can recognise how other people feel. There are many ways to tell! Our facial expressions are an easy example; when we’re happy, we smile! When we’re sad, our face becomes long, and when we’re angry we furl our eyebrows, etc.

There’s other ways to tell as well! Body language is an excellent example as well! Are their fists clenched? Shoulders slouching? Arms crossed? Etc… We must always be aware of other people’s body language to tell us how they are feeling.

Lastly, you can tell by listening to the tone of their voice. When we are happy we talk fast and excitedly! When we’re sad we talk in a lower tone and with less enthusiasm than normal. When we are angry, maybe our teeth are clenched and what we say becomes more short and pointed.

Using these indicators, we can tell how other people are feeling and be more aware of ways to help them feel better. By gently asking if everything is alright, we are showing we care, and we are compassionate people. You may end up making another person’s day! All our Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts students from both our South Surrey and Cloverdale locations should be compassionate in everything they do; making them better people in the process.
