Blog about Korean Thanksgiving: Chuseok

Hello everyone, it seems each country celebrates thanksgiving at a different time. In Canada we celebrate in October. In the United States of America they celebrate in November. In Korea, they celebrate in September! This coming week in Korea, there will be a large 5 day holiday! (Wow!)Students from Chang’s Taekwondo Martial Arts in South Surrey, Cloverdale, Tsawwassen, Aldergrove, and Mission can all benefit from learning more about Korean culture. As we all know, Taekwondo comes from Korea! Chuseok is a celebration “to thank the heavens for a successful harvest and to hope for another in the year ahead.”Friends and family come together to eat delicious food, and enjoy each other’s company.I think it sounds almost like North American thanksgiving!Enjoying good food and better company, is a great way to keep us healthy. Sometimes the grind from work or school can wear us down… taking time to stop, and celebrate something like a bountiful harvest and hang out with family is a great way to recharge. If you have a local Korean supermarket you can always go and try their ethnic treat called songpyeon“a traditional Korean rice cake stuffed with sweet fillings such as sesame seeds, honey, chestnut paste and red bean paste.”Enjoy your Chuseok, and see you on the mats!👊Source:https://www.scmp.com/yp/discover/lifestyle/article/3128126/what-chuseok-koreas-thanksgiving-festival-explained Changs Taekwondo
